My taste in music is… varied.

From 2-Tone to metal, punk to reggae — if it sounds good, I’ll go and see it live. There’s no real pattern, no strict genre — just whatever makes me nod and smile.

Over the years that’s meant gigs ranging from John Grant and The Wandering Hearts to Motörhead, Halestorm and Deep Purple. Add in Ferocious Dog, Mad Dog Mcrea, Hayseed Dixie and The Reytons, and you get a sense of the mix.

Not every gig hits the mark. The worst? R.E.M. and Arctic Monkeys — both felt like the bands just didn’t care, and that shows.

The best are the opposite. Marmozets and Halestorm stand out — full energy, full commitment, giving everything to the crowd. That’s what makes the difference.
